Busy, busy week here at the TMA HQ. Let's go through some new music video releases to cover until I can get back on track.
Newsted recently released a music video for "...as the Crow Flies," and while I haven't had a chance to hear the new record in its entirety, this song is bland and uninspired. I suppose it's decent for a first effort, but I'm not running out to buy the album or anything.
Sonata Arctica also served up a new video for "The Wolves Die Young," from their upcoming record, Pariah's Child. Being a fan of the band's recent output--especially Unia--I love the song, even though it offers no surprises; meaning it's characteristically Sonata Arctica and very listenable.
A clip for Motörhead's "Hearbreaker" surfaced last year in October. Not being a huge fan of their latest album, Aftershock, I didn't know it existed until today, but no matter--it's classic Motörhead, but perhaps that's precisely the problem. We've (I've) heard this all before. Still, let's give Lemmy a round of applause for his consistency.
I think I like Pat Benatar's "Hearbreaker" better.
Last but not least, it's not metal, but Asia's new record, Gravitas, hit shelves yesterday. It's shitty and boring. Don't buy it like I did.
I'm also seeing Neutral Milk Hotel tomorrow night in Indianapolis. I know next to nothing about them, but a bro's gotta do what a bro's gotta do. I promised a friend I'd come along. If I'm a full-blown hipster after tomorrow night, mourn the loss of a metalhead.
