By George, this is the best thing I've heard from Opeth. I haven't ever held a strong interest in the band, but I've certainly respected their prior material. In fact, I have a friend who burnt me a copy of
Watershed, but it never clicked or held my attention. This on the other hand does. EASILY. It reminds me of Yes' sublime prog rock from the '70s, like something off of
Fragile or
Relayer. I even hear a hint of Uriah Heep with that Hammond organ action going on. Overall, the song has a nice, haunting atmosphere.
After hearing this I can't wait for the rest of the album.
Rock on,
